edit prefs and open file don't work

Hello,

I'm running vlc 0.8.6c on yellow dog linux 6 on playstation3. It works fine, plays videos and mp3s, but I have a small problem: the open file button doesn't work, and neither does the edit preferences button. I click on them and nothing happens. I tried looking for the config file vlcrc, but didn't find it. I see no .vlc/ folder where it says it should be in the FAQ. I installed vlc through an rpm package, so maybe it put the config file somewhere else, but I can't find it.

Anybody knows how I can fix my problem?
