HOWTO : Basic messy libvlc / Gtk# / mono info
*NOTE*
I am not a pro coder by any stretch of the imagination, please feel free to fix what I've broken.
OK the windows example on the wiki is almost there - for my needs I had to strip out some .Net 2.0 specific stuff to start with.
The keys were :
1) Understand that the "Gdk.Window" property of a widget IS NOT THE PARENT WINDOW it is however a kind of mini window comprising of only the widgets usable area.
2) A Gdk.Window.Handle IS NOT a xdrawable. For that you need to import libgdk-x11 and use gdk_x11_drawable_get_xid to convert to an IntPtr to a xdrawable.
*note* on Ubuntu Gutsy the libgdk-x11-2.0 (found in /usr/lib) was called "libgdk-x11-2.0.so.0" to make this code work I symlinked it back to libgdk-x11-2.0.so
