How to launch VLC gui on BSD?

An embarrassingly simple question: how do I launch VLC from an xterm so that it would start with the gui rather than ncurses interface? Is there a special argument or separate program (ie xvc)?

I tried "vlc -I skins2" but it still opens in console. I read vlc -h, documentation, FAQ, and forums but couldn't find the answer to my simple question.

I am running "OpenBSD 3.9-current (GENERIC.MP) #734: Thu May 25 01:29:05 MDT 2006" and compiled "VLC media player 0.8.4a Janus" from OpenBSD ports. It works great, can play music, videos, etc. but don't know how to open VLC in gui. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
