AC3 and DTS issue

Postby daniel » 01 May 2010 01:58

Hi

When playing video with either a AC3 or DTS sound track and using pass through via SPDIF to an AMP about every 5 to 10 mins the sound has a break for less than 1 second. It is consistent with every video I play. I notice on the AMP the DTS or AC3 indecator goes out for same amount of time. Looks like the DTS/AC3 stream is dropping. I have had this for a long while with VLC and I thought it would be something to do with my setup. I have recently replace bot the AMP and PC hardware and it still does it so leads me to a software issue.

I am using 64 bit Fedora based Linux with a quad core CPU, high end system has no problem playing 1080p x264 mkvs . Also other software seems not to have this issue.

Installed Packages:
vlc.x86_64 1.0.5-2.fc12 installed
vlc-core.x86_64 1.0.5-2.fc12 installed

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Regards
Daniel
