VLC used to work fine for me but now every time I pay any video, it stutters, stopping at some points for anywhere between 5-15 seconds and then picks up where it left off. This happens to the audio AND video.

I have upgraded, increased the Cache size to 5000 then to 9000, change the video output to OpenGL, increased thread count in FFMPEG to 4, etc. I am out of ideas.

Is there anything anyone could suggest to help my situation? Thanks in advance.

Remove the libsamplerate.dylib in your vlc plugins folder.

Since this was posted a long time ago, I imagine you either solved it or moved to something else. But I had the same problem just now running it on my old iMac with 10.5.8 (the only big screen in the house). All I did was go into the video codecs options, and under FFmpeg: uncheck the 'Hurry up' box and change the 'skip the loop filter fpr h.264 decoding' to "all". I changed no other settings and deleted no files. I think though this might not work for everyone. I would guess what kind of file you're playing matters. I used VLC version 2.0.5 PPC 32bit, I run 10.5.8 on my iMac 1.8Ghz G5, and my files are .VOB (unix executable).
