Remember playlist when closing app

Dear members,
As a more than satisfied VLC users I've got a few questions about VLC on my Mac.
1. I would like VLC to save my playlists when i close and reopen the app.
2. I got about 400 folders on my MAC. When i drag these 400 folders into VLC it makes ONE playlist with all the files. I want VLC to make 400 playlists, so for each map a playlist instead of having to make 400 playlists manually and drag the files in 1 by 1.
Help would be much appreciated! Thanks

Did you have a look at the so-called media library exposed in the sidebar of VLC 2.0.1? It should greatly suit your needs. If not, please report back and tell me why it doesn't

Thanks for your reply. I actually did noticed the media library, i only couldn't drag any audio into it but i guess i did something wrong but now i got it, thanks
. But there is one other issue though. When i play an audio file it automatically plays all the audio files in that folder. I only want VLC to play that one audio file. Where can i chamge this setting?

Yes, you can check either the "Play and stop" or "Play and pause" options in the advanced preferences (click on "Show all" on the bottom left of the preferences). You'll find these options in the "Playlist" category. Note that you need to click on the word "playlist" directly. No need expand the triangle
Note that these options take effect for all played items, including but not limited to audio.

Awesome, thanks, works as expected. Only another issue occurred. It seems that VLC can't handle my 204 folders containing 36gb of audio. When i drag them into my media library and try to play them, the blue/white bar beneath appears and it keeps loading. I kept it loading for 1,5 hours but nothing happend. When i tried to quit VLC it wouldn't let me so i had to kill the process. I did the above 3 times and every time the same result.

Nice to hear that
Regarding your 204 folders: this might be a bit much in a single import. You may want to split the selection and import like 20 folders only at a time. At least, I'd try that. Note that VLC will read the ID3 tags from every single mp3 on import...

I opened a feature request for this here which addresses your first question:
Restore playlist state when re-opening app. This supplements 2 older playlist auto-save feature requests:
Playlist autosave
Add an option to autosave current playlist on exit
