Playlist Disabling & Default Window Size at startup?

Postby jamus » 27 Feb 2012 17:30

I held off on the VLC 2.0 until it seemed Handbrake would work ok. I have tried it this morning and run into a few issues.

1. Is there a preference to turn off the Playlist so it does not keep a history of what I play with VLC? I use this in a lab environment and do not want every next user to sit at the machine to see what the previous user was viewing.

2. Is there a way to set a default window size and have VLC remember that size at startup? If I play a 1080 video, then quite VLC, the next time VLC is opened it will start up with a huge window. I would like to set a default window size for the application to use at startup that way it would not open with a window outside of the LCD screen.

Thank you for any assistance.

Try: Preferences > Show All > Interface > macosx > Uncheck "Keep Recent Items"

Save and restart VLC.
(Also, you may want to Clear Menu in File > Open Recent)

Try: Preferences > Interface > Uncheck "Resize interface to the native video size"

Save and restart VLC.

This allows me to resize the window and open videos without changing the window size.

I believe those pref changes will do the trick. The "Resize interface" option still doesn't get 100% what I am looking for, but it will get the job done well enough.

Thank you very much for the help.
