VLC 2.0 - Starts but wont play any DVDs

Mac OS X 10.6.8, VLC 2.0.0. Just installed the newest version and VLC runs but wont play any DVDs. Removed prefs, uninstalled via AppCleaner etc. and it's still not working. Tried re-installing 1.1.12 with no better results. No crash log, so it's not crashing I just get the yellow shield on every DVD I try. Only "errors" I'm seeing in messages are:
main error: ES_OUT_RESET_PCR called
dvdnav warning: cannot get next block (Error reading from DVD.)
DVDs work fine with iDVD so it's not the DVD itself.

Is your drive patched?

Patched? Not sure what you mean... VLC 1.1.12 was working fine 2 days ago and I use it pretty much everyday. Upgraded to 2.0 and it no longer works. Haven't done anything else to my system.

Can you share all the logs? And preferabily from the command line?

Seems like a libdvdread regression... Or a libdvdcss one.

Did you flash your drive? What region is it?

Region 1. What do you mean by "flash" my drive? Like I said previously there is no software/hardware differences on my machine between version 1.1.12 and 2.0.0. 1.1.12 has worked fine for however long it's been available ( I've been using VLC for about a year now and I don't remember the original version number I started with ). Basically I downloaded 2.0.0, mounted the dmg file, draged it to my applications folder and it starts just fine. It just wont play anything. Every DVD I've put in thus far just comes up with the yellow shield icon and wont play.

Just want to add that the exact same thing is happening for me. I am using the latest version of vlc on my Mac 10.6.8, and have had no problem playing videos of the files are on my computer. When trying to play a DVD it will not load. Cleared out all preferences and tried everything as a work around but nothing works.
Have used previous versions of vlc on this laptop with no prior issues.

Hey!
I just wanted to say I'm having the same issues. I'm a complete retard when it comes to technology, so I've been blindly fumbling my way through to try and fix some issues.
I only downloaded VLC this evening, as I was having issues playing a DVD with a region 2 code (I'm Australian, so my region code is 4, and I had mine set to 1 to watch a DVD from the US), and my stupid computer wouldn't let me change my region back.
Now, VLC won't play the DVD. I think it's because it's a commercial one. I have absolutely no idea what to do. The VLC site says I should use something called a dvdcss something, but I have no idea how to use it.
Anyone have any idea what to do?

Same issues here. Start VLC and load a DVD. Nothing out of place in messages/logs. If I wait 2-5 mins it will *sometimes* actually start playing. Until that time, the UI is frozen, or it stays that way if it doesn't play.

I recently updated to 2.0.1 on a MacBook Pro running Lion and I now get the "dvdnav warning: cannot get next block (Error reading from DVD.)" error when trying to watch a DVD from a different region than my drive has been set to through DVD Player. I used to be able to use VLC to play DVDs from any region. I am happy to post the full log. Unfortunately I have now tried to restore from a Time Machine Backup and even with the older version of VLC I now get the Orange Triangle error when trying to load a DVD. This is really annoying as I am currently moving back and forth between the US and UK extremely frequently and can't change my DVD region all the time to be able to use DVD Player.
Is there a solution? Or is the only option now to try flashing my drive? Something I have never done and am a little scared to try.
