Can't kill a VLC 2.0 process!

I am having a big problem with VLC 2.0.
I'm running several VLC processes in a shell.
Since version 2.0 the shell command kill <PID> does not work anymore. VLC does not quit!
This behavior is on "Snow Leopard" and on "Lion".
The Version for "Leopard" works just fine. (Like earlier versions)

Any chance to fix this?

You could always try: kill -9 <PID> .

Could you open a ticket for this? It may suggest some threads not finishing.
