OS X Lion Native Fullscreen mode and Zoom

I noticed in the newest nightly build ( vlc-stable-x86_64-20120207-0314.zip ) Lion's native fullscreen mode has been disabled.
I wish the ability to zoom to 50% in fullscreen mode in VLC. In the previous builds, the native fullscreen mode has allowed me to do this. The only drawback has been Lion's native fullscreen mode has that dumb gray fabric background.
What I am wanting is a zoomable fullscreen mode with a black background for smaller resolution windows.
I am wondering if there is a work around for this?

Use 'o'

Thanks for the reply.
Using 'o' does not do anything. It brings up the "original size" or "scaled to screen" text over the picture, but does not change the picture size.
I see this has been your reply in the forum since 2008 or '09.
Perhaps you can elaborate because pressing 'o' doesn't work on any version I have tried.
*I have tried using 'o' on Mac OS X 1.1.12 & the newest nightly builds over the last few months.

FYI: Lion fullscreen support isn't available in the nightly builds and won't be until further notice for technical reasons. Sorry for the limitation.

Right on. I'll be waiting. You guys are badass by the way. The 10-bit playback is beautiful.

question:
I'm having the same issue. is there any way to revert to the previous VLC build until this function is fixed? I use my mac to watch all my tv/movies... not having full screen is sorta frustrating.
Thanks!

Is there any way to use the old fullscreen mode in VLC 2? I have multiple monitors, and sometimes I put a video on one monitor while I work on the other. Lion's completely useless fullscreen mode doesn't allow me to do this. VLC's been the only video player app that's allowed me to do this.

Yes, there is the "Use the native fullscreen mode on OS X Lion" option in the interface category of VLC's preferences.

Thanks. I was going to post that it didn't work, but after I restarted VLC it works. Thanks a lot for providing this for those of us who like to get things done over multiple monitors.
