I Am not getting sound in VLC 1.1.12 as has been the case since the release date i have tried multiple movies and multiple players such as VLC 0.86 ,Quicktime etc and all files play successfully in those, it is annoying as i like to keep upto date with my software though no action has been taken as of yet the only response i recived was to try vlc 1.2.0 which i don't have accesses to or possess the skills if i found it to compile it . hopefully someone will know of a fix or release an update as i am stuck with a product i cannot use.

Any Help would be greatly Appriciated

Just some basic thoughts...

Under the Audio menu, is your Audo Device set to Built-In Output?

In Preferences -> Audio, is it Enabled?

Are you using analog audio, but maybe have something connected to a digital S/PDIF connection? Maybe check to see if Preferences -> ALL -> Audio -> "Use S/PDIF when available" is deselected.

vlc 1.2.0 which i don't have accesses to or possess the skills if i found it to compile it .
VLC 1.2.0 nightly builds are opened to the public.

vlc-stable-x86_64 is the latest VLC snapshot of the stable branch (64 bit)
