hello, I did use the search feature and found no forthcoming results about this, so I decided to join the forum and create a post.

I am using an older version of vlc because it is the most updated version for the version of osx I am on. The version of VLC being 0.9.10 which presumably came out in 2009 or 2010.

What I am wondering is how can I cut segments of a avi file out so i can use them for editing together a video of clips for a youtube video?

I know I don't have a dedicated editing program because there are very few for osx 10.4.7 anymore that work and are free, but of course if anybody knows any I would be happy to know.

For now I would be quite content with instructions on how to either cut video or record segments of it using this version of vlc. thanks. :D

There's a videolan movie creator project here: http://trac.videolan.org/vlmc/
I'm not sure about its state of development, stability and functionality but it seems to be a video editing program based on libVLC.
I also haven't tried it yet, so this is a blind guess on what could help you :D
