DLNA/uPnP in Lion?

Has anyone got upnp working in lion? I'm not actually sure it worked in snow leopard as my other mac has not been unboxed since moving. Just got a macbook air and wish to connect to my friends XBMC server. Yes, I know I can use XBMC (this works), but I want to have a windowed player (VLC) so I can watch tv episodes and surf at the same time on the same screen.

I can find the option find the option in the playlist preferences for upnp services discovery module and it loads 'upnp_intel'.

After doing this nothing happens in the playlist. Inside the playlist I right click and select 'services discovery' - 'universal plug and play'. A list is created, but not populated. Restarting VLC the list turns to a '?'. Also VLC does not close properly when this is enabled so i'm guessing somethings happening somewhere, but no cigar.

Without been able to try on my snow leopard machine I can't test whether this is a lion issue, or snow leopard.

It's a VLC is issue, i ask myself when they gonna fix it. It looks like the OSX divission of VLC is sleeping at this moment because afther august the 12th there has been no new nightly builds for OSX.

Could you not meddle everything and start by actually reasoning instead of saying undocumented FUD?

- Upnp issue is multi-platform and is not fixed because noone seems to care enough...
- OSX builds are broken because of a very specific bug that isn't fixed...
- OSX builds are not a due, but a nice thing. If you don't like it, please join the team...
- People are volunteers... How difficult is that to understand?
