"Audio device" not selectable in VLC 1.1.11

On OSX 10.6.8 "audio --> audio device" was selectable with VLC 1.1.10.1 for digital audio output, however, in version 1.1.11 it won't work anymore, just grey, still works for me with 1.1.10.1

Same here, I have the same problem. The 'audio device' is greyed out so I cannot choose the encoded option any more for the full cinema surround on any given file. Is there any where where we can report this bug?

This bug only occurred when I updated the VLC software from the previous version to 1.1.11, so it seems to be related to 1.1.11.

It's a big problem for me as I now have to stop using VLC until this bug is fixed due to this greyed out option preventing me from enabling the 'encoded' audio track for use with a cinema 5.1 surround sound amplifier.

I can also confirm that as of 1.1.11, my M-Audio Transit no longer has an option for "Encoded Output". It's simply gone, so there's no way to get surround. Rolling back to 1.1.10.1 fixes the problem.

Hi seqiro, how can I roll back to version 1.1.10.1? Thanks.

I just figured it out. First uninstall the latest version of VLC. Then download the appropriate previous version from here for Mac OSX:

http://download.videolan.org/pub/videol ... .1/macosx/

...and install 1.1.10.1 again. Now the audio device option with encoded output is no longer greyed out and is now available again for those of us who wish to use a cinema surround 5.1 device, until this bug is fixed in the next update.

turn off force dolby detection in your audio settings. This will bring your audio back but you still won't have surround sound.

Reverting to v.1.1.10.1 worked for me too. In addition to removing the 1.1.11 app, I had to remove the preferences file before reinstalling 1.1.10.1.

I am running 10.6.8 and tried un-installing the 1.1.11 update and reverting back to both 1.1.10 and 1.1.10.1. Neither one seems to have worked, the option to select the Audio Device is not available.

I reverted to VLC 1.1.10.1 and recovered my live Audio Device option. I did notice in the latest OSX update that there is a supposed "fix" for OSX losing control of audio out on HDMI and Optical Audio ports! This may be all Apple's fault and have nothing to do with VLC.

1.1.11 included an attempted fix, which apparently does not work. Feel free to use a current 1.1 nightly build (from http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/mac ... l/?C=M;O=D), which works correctly on 10.6.8 and includes the security fixes, which 1.1.10* don't.

I'm seeing this problem in 2.0.5. Any suggestions?

there's something we're missing. My 2.0.5 works fine on my laptop but version 2.0.8 doesn't work on my netbook. I don't know what it is but it's very annoying
