Since 1.1.10, media keys are disabled for iTunes

Postby Gary King » 17 Jun 2011 08:33

In VLC, I have unchecked "Control playback with media keys" so I can continue using them for iTunes instead. I normally listen to music, so when I open a video, I hit the "pause" key to pause the music. However, since 1.1.10, hitting the pause key does nothing when VLC is active. So it seems like VLC is disabling the media keys completely.

Apologies, I meant 1.1.10. And I believe 1.1.10.1 just came out a few days ago, which has the same problem of course.

Keep "Control playback with media keys" checked, then.

I don't want the media keys to control playback, though. I want VLC to completely ignore them. However, VLC is instead disabling the media keys so I can't use them with iTunes when VLC is open.

Same here, iTunes does not respond to the media keys when VLC 1.1.10 is running.
I reverted to 1.1.9 via Time Machine.

The media key implementation in VLC never worked flawlessly, as if it's enabled it controls both iTunes and VLC.
As far as i know there's no way to turn off controlling iTunes with the media keys (i wouldn't want to anyway).

Due to an important security issue.

Note that this is project is done by people in their spare time, so something things take a bit more time than expected.
