The Audio Goes off When Forwarded via Scroll

I downloaded the latest version of VLC today (version 1.1.8 ).
It seems nice so far however I'm having an audio problem I didn't have with the previous versions:
When I wind forward (or vice versa) a movie with the scroll of my mouse, the audio just stops for some time (for example 5 seconds or so) and only then it returns.
This is kinda frustrating when you're looking for a specific scene and find it but have to wait for the audio to come back. And no; I'm afraid forwarding even more in case the audio returns until the scene I'm looking for appears is not a good solution as some has suggested before... : )
I'd like to say that I used to have this problem last year when I had VLC on Windows, but then I got Mac and it wasn't an existent problem on Mac's versions.
If someone can help me I'd really, really appreciate it.
Thank you.
