Where does it store the record on VLC?
Few weeks ago I recorded something, listened back and worked well. However, after shutting down the program, I am not able to find it anywhere
Thank you!

Yep, me too. Record doesn't deliver an output file, but also the record menu doesn't indicate record, and the record hotkey hint in the menu is wrong.
VLC Version 2.2.4 Weatherwax (Intel 64bit)
Mac OS X Sierra version 10.12 Beta (16A294a).
I just did a 3 minute record, checked in the folder where I stated recordings should go, and I can't find it, also I looked more broadly and didn't find it on the hard drive anywhere...
have looked for .mpg, .mp4, .ts...
Can export successfully, but I cannot record - Have used both the menu option in playback, and the hotkey [the hotkey ⌘⇧R actually showed "recording" and "recording done"]
I also went into File-> open capture device, and set the capture values for output, and tested them with screen capture.
That worked, but I still did not get a recording when using hotkey ⌘⇧R, although it said it was recording.
⌥⌘R doesn't work by the way although the menu suggests that is howto do it.
Checking Mac console, I can't find an errors, and I don't have a debug option in VLC...
I wondered if there was a permissions issue, but stream capture and screen capture work fine...
... so I set everyone to be able to read and write the folder, just to be bloody minded.
Still no result.
Help?

VLC for Mac stores recorded video files at: ~/Movies/
The files will be called something like: vlc-record-2018-07-10-20h13m34s-video.cgi-.avi
This is regardless of what you set in the Preferences menu. The preferences do not function properly on this client. Also, you must use the Shift-Command-R hotkey, to record; the menu option does not work. Finally, you can only record from one instance of the application, at a time; no simultaneous recordings, at least not that I can get to work.

Use the shift-command-r to record then go to 'Macintosh hd' on your desktop then press 'users' then press the 'house' icon and they should be in the 'movies' folder.

Does the record facility keep the quality of the video?
I know QUICKTIME can trim and clip without reducing quality.
The reason i ask is it is called RECORD which to me indicates a compression.
There is no way to edit 2 parts of a video right? So delete 2 parts and save.
