WTF? Really?
Why bother, why not put ban on ALL systems, Windows and Mac OS X are to in conflict with GPL.
And in the end i must BUY app for playing any video on my iPad, or convert it. It is just stupidity.

Are you refering to the fact VLC was taken down from the Apple App Store? This was at VideoLans request. Not Apple.

We didn't ban VLC for iOS. This port was neither published by the VideoLAN project nor removed by it but Applidium / Apple respectively.

If I remember the story rightly, someone mentioned the GPL was inconsistent with Apple's app store license and Apple decided it was probably easier to pull the application instead of investing legal time in the issue. As I said, that was the story I heard and so the reality is probably a little different.

Until someone does the legal due diligence, we may not see VLC back on the app store for a good while, if at all. Nobody wants to be in legal limbo. Maybe a GSoC project for law students? ;)
