"reveal in finder" files in folders with spaces

Hello, i just tried VLC 1.1.7 and I've noticed a problem that I've had since 1.0.4. When i play a file and I want to reveal it in the finder by right-clicking on it in the playlist or on the top of the movie window it works fine as long as the folders in the path don't have spaces in their names. But when they do, the spaces are suddenly replaced by "%20" and the folders can't be opened and the files cannot be revealed.
I'm the only one having this problem?
Thanks for your time.

P.S. I'm running MacOSX 10.6.6

Hi, santos46, I also am using 1.1.7 while running MacOSX 10.6.6 on a Macbook Pro. I am currently just beginning to find what this great program can do, so I thought I would see if I could mimic your problem. In my playlist, if I click on the title and choose 'Reveal in finder,' if there are spaces in the title, it will not reveal it at all, until I remove the spaces. However, an anomaly I have noticed is that if the title is: 'ShowNameHereS01E01EpisodeTitleNameHereDVDRip.XviD-SAiNTS.avi,' then in the playlist anything after S[season]01E[episode]01 is not shown, until I rename AND remove S01E01. For instance, I can change S01E01 to 1-1 and everything in the name of the file will now show in the playlist window, but I MUST remove S01E01. Not sure why having Season number and Episode number listed in this fashion does this, but that is what I have noticed. I do a lot of renaming AND removing of spaces, it is house keeping, at least that is what I call it! Anyone out there in VideoLAN have some insights or comments? --want to thank the VideoLAN developers out there for this remarkable software!!!

I suspect that internally VLC is storing the file as a URL, but neglects to 'decode' the path before trying to open it on disk.

It worked fine till 1.0.4 came out. What happened?

Probably some internal change I didn't notice. Thanks for making me aware of this issue (my paths usually don't include spaces which is why I didn't notice..).

Thanks for the reminder. I forgot about that bug when preparing 1.1.9. I created a ticket on this matter now: http://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/4721

Just for your interest: this bug is fixed for VLC 1.1.10. Nightly builds will include this fix as soon as new ones are created (probably not tonight due to server maintenance, but tomorrow).

I just tested this and the behaviour is the same if the folders don't have any spaces but the filename itself does. Just thought I should add that in case the fix wasn't the same. Thanks in advance for fixing this!

The fix is for any space in the file's path including the file's name :)

I created an interface from the base HTTP files to browse for movies by cover art. The internal VLC web server (ver. 1.1.12) won't render image files with spaces in the names even if URL encoded in the function.js.

So in some form this bug still exists.

The problem within the web interface is absolutely unrelated to the bug in the OS X interface. Please file a ticket on trac.videolan.org/vlc or provide a patch yourself! :)
