When switching monitors, VLC loses sound.

I don't want to file an official bug report because I'm not so great at that, but when I move my laptop to a cinema display the audio still plays on the laptop despite the picture being on the cinema display, when I open up VLC hooked up to the cinema display it plays the audio through the cinema display's speakers, but when I disconnect it to go back to "laptop" mode the audio disappears completely.

I've had this problem since early 2009 when I got the monitor, I'm just so tired of it I thought mentioning it might get it fixed. I hate having to restart VLC every time and scroll back to where I was just to get sound back

EDIT: Also, VLC is up to date, this problem was in Leopard and Snow Leopard. Everything is up to date, and I reformatted about a month ago and the problem was there even after the format. I am 100% sure this is a VLC problem

I have a (I think) similar issue.. I hook up my macbook pro to my tv via minidisplay > hdmi (new macbook pro) and use an apple remote to control it. If I begin watching a video, and then close the screen completely, I totally lose sound and have to completely restart the player. I have to watch videos on the tv with the macbook screen slightly open.

No responses it seems, I would be willing to pay if someone could fix this bug. I have switched to mPlayer but it has the same problem and its actually worse so if VLC fixes this I will definitely switch back.
