Hi, I have just had a look at the windows version of VLC and there is a slider at the bottom of the movie window that you can adjust for the playback speed. Does mac have a similar slider? How do you make it appear? I can only change the playback speed to 1.5x, 2x, 3x... is there any way to change playback to 1.2x or so?

I've been looking for the same thing - HOW can you use hotkeys to do this?

Have a look at the hotkeys section of VLC's preferences to see the available options and to re-set the keys to suit your needs if desired.
