Stuttering playback for .rm files.

VLC 1.0.5 and 1.1.0 RC both stutter on a .rm file. Mplayer OSX Extended rev14-test2 plays the file back smoothly, while admittedly having slight pixelating-like aliasing problems.

Stuttering happens both in fullscreen and windowed. The file itself shouldn't be that tough, 424x240 24fps, around 700kb/s. CPU usage for VLC shows around 20%. The stuttering gives the video a 6fps feel, while I think more frames are drawn. The drawing speed just isn't constant.

Memory Mapping didn't affect the result, suggested here:

The problem is there only on .rm files. Avi, mpeg, mp4, mov, wmv, asf, etc play back just fine. What should I try next? Or is this a bug in VLC?

MacBook C2D 2.0GHz 2GB
Snow Leopard 10.6.3.

Hows well does the official player from Real handle it, for comparative purposes?

The install procedure reminded me why I've never used RealPlayer before. Turned out to play the video without stuttering and with good picture quality, until I rewind to beginning in fullscreen which hung the app. But when opening RealPlayer the video plays fine every time, even in fullscreen, if I don't rewind.

Terrible app though.

Are you able to provide access to the video, so we can see what is happening?

Unfortunately no, it's a commercial that hasn't been published yet. I've been trying to find a .rm file to present the problem with, but I barely have any. I'll try to find a suitable clip somewhere.
