No sound when skipping forward

Since upgrading VLC for Mac a while ago the sound keeps vanishing if I skip forward when using avi files. The sound is there at the start and there are no problems as long as I don't skip forward. Skipping forward doesn't affect the video but the sound vanishes for a while (it does come back eventually but can take many minutes to do so). Any suggestions?

VLC 1.1.3? Which OS version, and does this happen with all AVI files? If it doesn't can you establish a correlation with the codecs (video & audio) used by the file?

Hi I'm having the same problem.
I'm running VLC 1.1.9 (Intel 64-bit) on Mac OS 10.6.7 (Snow Leopard).
I've only had this problem with one AVI file. The audio works at the beginning, but if I skip forward the audio stops. (No problem with the video.)
Here are details about the AVI:
Stream 0
Type: Audio
Codec: MPEG Audio Layer 1/2/3 (mpga)
Channels: Stereo
Sample rate: 44100 Hz
Bitrate: 128 kb/s
Stream 1
Type: Video
Codec: MPEG-4 Video (XVID)
Resolution: 960x544
Frame rate: 29.970028

Did VLC ask you if you would like to repair the AVI prior to playback? Does this solve your problem?

No, unfortunately, VLC does not ask to repair the AVI file.

This is still a problem with 1.1.11 and MKV files. The one I just saw it on had A52 audio 48kHz 192kb/s if that matters.

I can see that this problem is not yet resolved, at least in my case.
Linux Mint 17
VLC 2.1.4
filetype: MP4
Video
Codec: H264 -MPEG-4 AVC (part10) (avc1)
Resolution: 720x404
Frame rate: 23.976023
Decoded format: Planar 4:2:0 YUV
Audio
Codec: MPEG AAC Audio (mp4a)
Channels: Stereo
Sample rate 48000 Hz
I noticed this on almost every video I watched. Will update with additional A/V codeds infos if needed, and as I came across.
