Hello,

I recently downloaded the most recent VLC release for Mac OSX, and I encountered a problem when I tried to open a directory filled with mp3 files using the advanced open dialogue:
Here's what the messages showed:

Strangely enough, when I tried to play the same directory using the simple open dialogue, it worked flawlessly. However, I like to stream my music to other computers on the network (with better speakers), so it would be easier if I could use the advanced open dialogue box.

I'm running Mac OSX 10.5.8. Thank you for any help in this matter.

Regards,
Sean

Try to provide a http://wiki.videolan.org/VLC_report when reporting issues like these.

Alright, the system is Mac OS 10.5.8, running on a Late 2008 MacBook Pro (15in), with VLC 1.0.3.

The problem occurs when I attempt to open a directory of music files using the advanced file open. When I attempt to do so, I get the error I mentioned in the earlier post. The problem does not occur if I attempt to open a directory using the simple file open.

The problem can be reproduced by simply trying to open a music directory using the advanced file open dialogue in the Mac VLC interface.

I'd prefer not to post my email on a public forum, but it appears that if I am messaged through the forum, it will route to my email, so I hope that will satisfy the first part of the reporting requirements.

The system does not crash, so no crash log was generated.

Please let me know if there is anything else you need from me.

Regards,
Sean

I have the same problem, I found that If I select a folder then add "file://" at the beginning of the address it will open and stream that folder. e.g. " file:///directory/to/music/ "
