Lag in opening matroska files.

Recently, I've been running into a lag in opening matroska files in vlc. This is something which has not happened in my years of using the program. I upgraded from 1.0.2 to 1.0.3 but the problem still persists.

Standard definition is taking 15 or more seconds. I've gone digging in the settings, and im not seeing unusual caching values. Once play actually begins though it's smooth and otherwise normal. I have post processing on, but no filters of any kind, and non-matroska of any definition has instantaneous response.

There must be something i'm missing here, i'd appreciate input, thanks in advance ^^.

EDIT: I hear there are no more developers for OSX, this is very unfortunate. The mac platform depends on VLC for the bulk of its modern media interoperability.

Do you have subtitles in those files?

yes.

I've tried some with too many tracks to count, and others with just one, and it appears the number doesnt matter, but they do have subs. (I think they're ASS-the abbreviation, NOT the swear word!!)
