Cannot save stream
Posted: 14 Nov 2009 20:02
Here are the details of my system:
Computer: Mac G4 (PowerPC), OS X 10.4.11. VLC: 0.9.9a Grishenko - (c) (PowerPC).
I have been trying to save to disk a short video-and-sound stream from a website. This is the address of the stream: <http://cgi.omroep.nl/cgi-bin/streams?/n ... _Etude.wmv>. It plays perfectly well in VLC, but if I select the Streaming/Exporting wizard > Transcode/Save to file, put in the above URL, ignore the Transcode page (because I don't want to change the format — or should I change it?), choose any of the available Encapsulation Formats and put in a destination on the Additional Transcode Info. page, the progress bar shows that the stream is playing — but the end result is always a tiny file (about 4 kB) with nothing in it.
I trust someone will take pity on my inexperience and tell me what I am doing wrong and what I should be doing instead in order to save the stream to my hard disk.
