Hi. I'm using VLC v.0.9.9a for OSX and have a hopefully simple question. Every time I play a file (say filename.avi, for example), it displays "filename.avi" on the screen for a few seconds as the video begins. I would like to disable this without displaying all on-screen displays as I frequently watch subtitled media in VLC. I checked in Preferences and didn't find anything useful. Can anyone direct me to a solution? Thanks.

I'm using VLC under Windows XP, not running it from a command line. Is there a method of configuring VLC with the "--no-video-title" option so it will do this automatically when I click on a suitable video file? Cheers.

EDIT: found it, under Tools/Preferences/Subtitles & OSD. There's a checkbox labelled "show media title on video start". Unchecking it means the filename no longer appears on screen at the beginning of every movie.

THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! I've been looking for over an hour on how to do this. Some of the suggestions were really out there! I registered to this site just to thank you :D I am making a home movie for my four year old and didn't want the file name on every new clip! Perfection.
