its official vlc is useless on a mac

After several releases, vlc still shutters the video that quicktime, mplayer, niceplayer, and some more video players can reproduce sucesfully using the same hardware.

If you want to see a movie (divx) dont use vlc on a mac, it has been broken and it will remain broken for a long time (1.0.1 now and the same problems)..

Well thanks for the advice. Do you have anything constructive to add or did you just feel like being an ass?

I would not agree with "vlc is useless on a MAC".
People on this forum are with a goal and hope to improve VLC , not to humiliate or discourage someone.

I am facing only one issue of vlc-plugin-intel-1.0.1. That too I am managing with older version of this plugin and I have raised this issue earlier here

viewtopic.php?f=12&t=63240

I own an intel macbook 2.1. I never faced problem like stuttering with divx/xvid/wmv/....
I always use vlc 1.0.1 only and preferably to watch any video I have to.
I donot want to clutter my laptop with multitude of players mentioned by bzImage above.

And I am quite happy with VLC 1.0.1 so far.
I am avid fan of VLC. No other player offer so much for free. Never seen such player.
me ... very very happy with VLC1.0.1
Kudos to VLCmac team !!!
Had I been a software professional, I would have contributed my time to the VLC team.
I wish the VLCmac team all the best wishes in their work and success.

This forum is for support questions, not for non-constructive criticism. If you have an issue with VLC, ask the question, providing context and we will do our best to answer. If you have suggestions share them. We can't promise to produce miracles, but for unpaid help we will do the best we can. There may be better applications out there, but it is a matter of opinion and you may be paying a full time developer for that. We are short on experienced MacOS based developers, so some features will simply take more time to be fixed.

Software is the result of hard working developers. No mages performing magic are involved.

Was fine two versions ago....

I could run watch mp4's on VLC and do 3 other things (internet, apps, etc.). The past two versions have been horrible. Now the movies are stalling, breaking up, distorting. I can't watch VLC with nothing else running and get flawless playback. Could you please bring back the previous versions?

The previous versions are still available on our download pages, so you can easily revert if desired.

VLC is an open source program with amazing features. If you are having a problem with it you're free to fix the problem yourself. Whining about it does not help anyone. Filing an informative bug report, once the bug tracker is back up, is helpful.
