See length of video

I used the search but could not find the thing I was looking for, also new here so sorry if I post this in the wrong subforum.
Does VLC under OSX display the length of the video? I have VLC installed under several OSes and OSX seems to be the only one not displaying the length of the video that is playing. Is there any way to turn that on?
