Unable to reproduce, can you create a more detailed problem analysis ?

To reproduce, I would do it like this:

-Launch VLC 1.0rc3
-open Media Information panel with Command-I or the menu selection
-Drop some MKV file onto the VLC Icon in the dock
-Beach ball appears
-Application crashes with a dialog "The application 'VLC' quit unexpectedly"

The mkv file would play normally in any other situation... I could get some debug info on the subsequent launch?

Could you submit the content of the crash report? Additionally, what VLC variation were you using (intel 32-bit, intel 64-bit, etc)?

VLC 1.0rc4 resolved the crash!

You just need to open it while the movie is playing. If it is open before a movie is played, it will stay empty.
