AVCHD Lite with VLC 0.9.9a

I have a Panasonic TS1, its video format is AVCHD lite (which is different from AVCHD, it is 720p). I use VLC 0.9.9a to play the mts file of the video, the picture is OK but there is no sound. Is anyone having the same problem too?

I searched apple support, they said imovie cannot support this format and I have tried Final cut express, using Log and Transfer, preview is OK but can't import.
Any free media player support the avchd lite? Mplayer doesn't work too

Don't use VLC 0.9.9 for AVCHD. Use 1.0.0.

Most codecs are not present in any 0.9 version of VLC.

1.0 is not officially released and is currently only available as a release candidate.

Try the latest nightly from: http://nightlies.videolan.org/

Same situation here - d/l 1.0 right away!

Can any video editing programs work with these files? It sure seems like Panny doesn't want you even finding them (they're in H:\PRIVATE\AVCHD\BDMV\STREAM !).

What quality is the Motion JPEG videos from the TS1?

try to open directly the BDMV folder from VLC.

Hello. Thanks for the tip - to get VLC to open the BDMV folder, just what I needed as I was confused by the file structure.
However, my videos play back with great sound but the video does not keep up and is more like a series of stills with occasional movement.
I am using Version 0.9.9a Grishenko (PowerPC) with Mac OS X 10.4.11 and 1GB RAM.
The AVCHD Lite files originate from a Panasonic TZ7 / ZS3.
Thanks for any help.

Read the thread.
AVCHD are 1.0 only.

Hi J-B. Thanks for your prompt reply. I did read the thread but I really wanted that clarity as now I know I will have to seek a non-VLC based solution as v1.0 is Mac OS X 10.5+ only. (Or I'll upgrade to Leopard.) Thanks for the help.

Compile your VLC by yourself... Or complain to Apple for being moron and forcing us to upgrade.
