Playback Problems w/ vlc 0.9.6 & WD 2TB hd

hi,
hope someone can help me. recently bought a new western digital 2tb raid harddrive. i operate this via fw 800 on a mac g5, running 10.4.11.

i get skips in video and audioplayback in avi-files, i play from his harddrive. any idea?
