Set Default Aspect Ratio?

Well, I watch a bunch of stuff in VLC. I don't like using anything else.

But between videos and the like, I hate changing the aspect ratio on a constant basis.

Any way I can set the default to 16:10?

Thanks

Yes you can set the default aspect ratio to be 16:10. Go to the Preferences, select "Advanced options"/Select "All" for "Show settings", and the in the "Video" section there should be a "Source aspect ratio" option. Enter 16:10 into that, press "Save" and try a video.

it seems that there's a problem with VLC where it won't remember the source aspect ratio set in settings. I've been using this for a long time to force 16:9 on all my videos (as I have a lot of 4:3 series) but ever since I've updated to 2.0.1 it stopped working. I hope the VLC team sees this thread and resolves the issue

p.s. I'm on a late 2011 iMac 27" OSX 10.7.3

I'm also having an issue with VLC where it will NOT remember to force video to 16:10. I've tried a lot of work-arounds but they won't stick. I've also noticed that it won't remember settings (ie: volume) until I open up preferences, toggle some setting, and then click save before it will remember. It still won't work on the aspect ratio though. =\

Edit: I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. Running on a EVGA GTX 260 Core 216 with all relevant drivers are updated.

We will include quite a few improvements to the video output in the forthcoming 2.0.2 release.

It would be awesome if you guys had a look at the following work-in-progress build:

Note that there still some issues left with regard to Lion's native fullscreen mode. However, the rest should be more or less fine :)
