VLC does not play all MP3 file

Hi,

I have downloaded the latest version of VLC for the Mac. I am running Leopard with the latest upgrades.

While VLC plays most MP3 file perfectly, there are 1 or two that it will not play. The file looks as if it is loaded, but there is no movement on the time bar and of course no sound. I am anxious to find out what the problem is, as I much prefer VLC over Itunes.

Thanks in advance...

Jim

have you tried a different audio player like iTunes or something else, cause if the files in question wont play with the other players then its the files themselves that are bad. some people on the downloading networks love to play jokes on people like the dreaded xxxk mp3 file named the somg you want, or making a dummy file and naming it the song you are looking for. best was to check is to look at the file size and try with other players, chances are good that its the file thats no good.

I am having the same issue. All but 3 of my MP3s play flawlessly. One of the mp3 in question works in windows media player. The file is NOT copyright protected. And I purchased it through Beatport. Duration 0:07:24, Bit Rate 320kbps, Channels 2 (stereo), Audio Sample Rate 44khz. I was successful in using VLC to convert another MP3 file to WAV then convert it back to MP3 to remove any metadata info but this file eludes me. I don't want to download any other codecs as I use the files on my MP3 turntables and can't afford them not to work when I need them during a performance. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
