VLC STREAMING IS HELL !!!

This is how VLC streams, and amongst testing on many router/server configurations.
As from the eyes of VLC's point of view.
Hey a user wants to play a movie off of a wireless network with plenty of bandwidth. Well, let me start buffering it. Ok playing out the buffer. (meanwhile nothing is downloading) OK buffer is played through. Download new packets. Video halts during this process. Then it begins to play.
Aaaah, crap. I've searched everywhere on how to increase the buffer size, but even then...with this model it wouldn't matter. I've put up with it for a half year now, and would normally use Quicktime: yes the KING of movie players, but I can't do it with the convenient playlist.
Any help?
