Video device is set to 'Screen 1' by default?

The 'video device' setting is set to 'Screen 1' by default (I have 2 monitors). For older versions of VLC, it was set to 'Default', which is what I'd like it to be set as from the beginning. How can I change the default settings for this? Whenever I restart VLC it changes back to 'Screen 1'.
