Stream ALL audio from OS X

Postby antonylord » 15 Dec 2007 08:30

I'm fairly familiar with streaming (multicasting) audio files over the LAN here at work.

What I'd like to do is stream ALL sounds on an OS X box i.e. whatever I can hear on the speaker (irrespective of the source) I'd like to stream.

Anyone know the trick to picking up what must be the Core Audio feed?

Cheers, Antony.

I understand what you want to accomplish, but regrettably, this isn't possible with VLC right now. VLC is only able to stream pre-recorded audio on OSX right now, although we may add live audio streams (received through the internal microphone / line-in connector) later on.

Excellent! I look forward to that potential feature in the future ;)

I also worked out that any app that works with Jack OS X (or similar) can have its input routed to the built-in audio out thus streaming 'all sound'.

Cheers, Antony.
