Is there a way to change the speed of PAL video in VLC so it runs like NTSC, kind of like PAL60 mode on some video games? Sometimes the voices in PAL sound like mice.

It's not possible because it doesn't allow to go through -4% speed. Use smplayer :D

There is no SMplayer OSX, or is there?

The VLC 1.0 windows and Linux test-versions (not fully finished) has x0.96 slow-motion. Do check that "Enable time stretching audio" is not ticked in (advanced):
viewtopic.php?f=14&t=55755&hilit=vlc+1.0+pal
I am hoping that this function will come to the OSX version as well as when VLC 1.0 is released.

audio preferances. If it is, de-activate it and restart VLC.

There is no GUI yet on OSX to do so, but there will be.

Not yet... You can get 0.95x in VLC 1.0.0 with the keys.

In OSX???
I just installed Leopard and the latest VLC1.0git to give it a try. But no, the slowmotionsteps are much larger than 5%!
Or what keys are you talking about?
