Hello,

I can't open .m2t file that I record from my Motorola DCt 6416. I use AVCvideocap from Firewire SDK package and I can capture from the Motorola but the file can't be opened. I have this message with VLC :

ffmpeg: av_find_stream_info failed
ps: cannot peek
main: no suitable demux module for `/:///Users/Trudo/Desktop/test.m2t'
ffmpeg: av_find_stream_info failed
ps: cannot peek
main: no suitable demux module for `file/:///Users/Trudo/Desktop/tqs.m2t'

please help me.

FirewireSDK23 AVCVideoCap.app 1.05b works with Moto DCT3412I

I was successful using FirewireSDK23 AVCVideoCap.app 1.05b (created 14 Sep 2006) to capture DV to MPEG-2 TS (.m2t) files from a Firewire port on my Motorola DCT3412I Comcast digital video recorder (DVR) cable set top box (STB). I could capture both real-time programs being decoded by the "tuner" and also recorded programs being played.

I was then able to play the MPEG-2 TS (.m2t) files with VLC 0.8.6a just fine, however, I was not successful transcoding such files to anything that QuickTime 7 Pro (with MPEG-2 $19.95 extra module) would read.

In another thread, Neptune2000 suggested that 0.8.6 MPEG-2 TS was broken and the one needed to downgrade to VLC version 0.8.5. Indeed, VLC 0.8.5 worked fine for me to transcode the MPEG-2 TS (.m2t) files to everything I tried:

MPEG-2 TS -> MPEG-1 (.mpg: mp1v/mpga);
MPEG-2 TS -> MPEG-2 PS (.mpg: mp2v/mpga);
MPEG-2 TS -> MPEG-4 (.mp4: mp4v/mp4a);
MPEG-2 TS -> QuickTime (.mov: mp4v/mp4a).

i just ran into a file that vlc won't play, even though VirtualDVHS is happy with it (although vDVHS can't create the .tsnavi, so no 30sec ff, which is why i like vlc...+1% usually works;-)

the recording is of a cbs hd program that wasn't a problem last week...is this the latest round of commercial anti-skip technology?
