No sound on HD wmv and avi

I use VLC 0.8.6a on iMac Intel and I can't get the sound of differents .wmv and .avi files. The files is in HD (720 or 1080) and the sound format is AC3. I have sound with Quicktime and Flip4Mac.

The error message in VLC said no suitable decoder module for fourcc 'wmap'. VLC probably does not support this sound or video format.

Do you plan an upgrade that gonna support this kind of file ?

I want to buy some of this wmv DVD but I can't read it with sound with VLC and Quicktime don't let see it in full screen.

I've been having the same issue with HD files, and it's getting frustrating...any solution for this?
