Follow linked quicktime files?

hi,
I have several quicktime files (.mov) that do not containt the actual video but refer to another movie file elsewhere in the directory structure. Is VLC able to resolve the link and play the actual file?

could you paste what is exactly in these files ?

also i suppose if you ask here, that doesn't work ?
