cant open :[

thanx in advance for any help you can give me. im having trouble opening vlc media player. everytime i attemp to open it i get an error message that reads: You cannot open the aplication "VLC" because it may be damaged or incomplete. i redownloaded the file multiple times from http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/v ... layer.html and http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ , but i got the same results. i read in the comments of another download site that someone else had the same problem, and someone had suggested using diskimagemounter, but im not exactly sure how to use it and plus i cant access it anyway (doesn't open). i really would like to get this player to work. any suggestions?

Are you using Mac OS X 10.3.9 or higher? VLC doesn't support earlier versions anymore. You can still download an old version on our download for OSX page on videolan.org, in case you're still using 10.2.8 or even 10.1. I would strongly recommend you to update to a newer release though. They are much better and faster.

diskimagemounter is irrelevant btw. because you already mounted the disk-image.
