Hi

I have the same problem - open dvd and it automatically pops up with "main: decoder is leaking pictures, resetting the heap". Did you get a fix or work around for this?

This is my first installation on VLC on a brand new machine (iMac, Intel Core 2 Duo, OS X (10.4.8)).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
M

That's a known issue in DVD menus (which aren't compliant to any standard, so we're using something reverse engineered there). We can't fix it for now, so the best thing to do for is ignoring the error messages and telling the panel not to return for the session. There's a check box which let's you do this.

ANy update to this?

Hi,

I just updated my VLC to 0.8.6 on my Powerbook G4 (10.4.8) and i get the "leaking" issue only on certain DVDs. For example in a box set it works on seasons 4 & 5... Seasons 1 & 2 I get the message... I tried ignoring it but the video is all jerky and eventually crashes VLC.

BTW, Apples DVD Player plays the Season 1 DVD Ok, so it seems to be able to read the menus/format - no problem.

Any other workarounds?

I had quite a bit of problem using VLC to play 'It's A Wonderful Life' of all things over the holidays. I ended up copying the DVD files to disk and then
played it from there.

I also found that there are differences between the PC and the Mac versions in terms of the menus and available options for opening 'files', 'disks', or the ts files for a DVD... which eludes me at to why...
