VLC and iSight?

I had a bit of a search through the forums, but I couldn't find anything that looked helpful.

Has anybody successfully gotten a firewire iSight camera to work with VLC on MacOS X?

I've used VLC to connect to Logitech cams under Windows before, but that was just via direct show. I'm assuming I want to stream from /dev/something, but looking through the contents of /dev/, there's nothing that really says "Oh! I'm an iSight camera!" and dmesg hasn't given me much to go by either.
