BUG: Screensaver doesn't seem to go on when VLC launched...

Not sure where to report this, and not sure if I'm alone with having this error, but I have a screensaver set to go off after 5 minutes and the monitor energy saving to go on after a bit past that, but whenever VLC is launched (and PAUSED mind you) the screensaver never appears.

(I can use the shortcut corners to activate it though, but that works even when the video is playing, so I'm not sure that counts.)

If this is a bug that more people have encountered or can confirm, where can I report it?

Correct, when VLC is paused it's actually still running actively. updating the picture continiously. Pause in VLC is more "freeze" then "pause".

Further to your reply: this seems also to have the effect of preventing the power-saving settings of System Preferences coming into action - ie. the screen won't dim/turn off. This means I have to quit VLC and thereby lose my place in a movie if I want to leave the computer for any period of time. Is this something that can be improved upon? I should add that this occurs even if VLC is minimized (understandably I guess) or even "hidden" - less understandably. Panther 10.3.9.

This is fixed in the current development code and will included in any future release, be it a security update or the scheduled major update.
