Couple of playback errors..

Hello,
I have used VLC for some time, and have problems playing some files.
1. When playing an .avi-file with Xvid codec, the picture occasionally brakes up in lager pixels when changing scenes, and the movie hangs for a couple of seconds sometimes. There is no error message.
With some .avi- files/Xvid codec VLC just crashes. There is an error message, but I have no time to read it before VLC crashes....
Is my computer to slow ? It is a 1.8 GHz G5 Mac....
2.When trying to play certain MPEG2 files (.ts-format), I get the following error message:
main: option sub-original-fps does not exist
What does that mean ?
With other files of apparently the same kind it playes just fine, and I can't see the difference between the ones that do play and the ones just causing the above error message.
