Upon playing a .AVI file, my VLC interface changed to Russian. How do I get it back to English? Full re-install and delete of preferences did NOT help!

Please check your Internationalisation-settings in the global OSX preferences and make sure that International English is the first language of your choice. Additionally, remove also the folder called "VLC" in your preferences-folder since the language selection setting is stored there.

I had a similar problem with drop-down menus and preferences options in mixed English and Russian. This Mac was set up with British English and Russian only. The problem first occurred with VLC 0.8.2, and I accidentally corrected it when installing 0.8.3. Ran 0.8.4 without problems. Now using 0.8.5 test 1, and the problem came back. Uninstalling the beta and returning to the previous version left me with the problem.

Followed the advice, and added 'English' to the computers. It worked.

Thanks for the help.
