Perhaps you should tell us some more about your system and what happends?
* Intel or PPC Mac?
* Which VLC version?
* What actually happends (dont launch, crash...)?

i bought new intel core duo mac and i downloaded vlc player doesnt seem to work

You have to get the intel builds, how about searching?
