Chromecast requiring conversion and not working

Postby rorobichet » 14 Mar 2025 20:40

Hello,

I have an issue on my MacBook Air M2, I used to be able to cast video from my pc to a Mibox 3 through and one day it stopped working.

Since I don't often cast things on the TV I can't really trace what change I did which broke the ability to cast.

I've tested with another MacBook with the same video and it works as it used to on my own, so it is definitely something wrong on my pc.

What's happening when I chose the Mibox3 on the Playback > Render menu is a popup warning me that the file I'm trying to cast is requiring conversion and it may cause performance issues and power consumption increase.

As I said earlier it used to work. I tried with an mp4 video that I know worked, it no longer works anymore. I airdropped the same mp4 video on another Macbook and it works just fine.

I do not believe the popup warning message is relevant. It shouldn't even be needing conversion.

If anyone as any idea I'm opened for any advice because it is really frustrating
