Cant find the Advanced controls

I have been looking for a way to trim a video file and in each guide I have read its simply says 'Activate advanced controls in the View menu'. Some even show screenshots of the menu and it doesn't look like the one I have. I have the latest installed VLC and no where can I turn on these advance controls.

What am I missing? I have looked everywhere and checked several guides, even from a few months ago and they still refere to these controls.

Im hoping that its just something easy that im simply missing.

I don't know how to post a screenshot but in my View menu there are 4 choices to show or hide

1: Show previous & next buttons
2: Show suffle & repeat Buttons
3: Show audio effects button
4: Show sidebar

In some guides the view button placed where the Windows drop down is in my program. But the menu still isn't anything even close to how mine looks. Are there several VLC programs that you can download? The guides specificaly says that it is for mac and PC so the programs cant be that disimilar?

There are no advanced controls on macOS as the Ui is different. However, generally, you should not use VLC to trim your videos but a designated app.
